Shell red, a natural and useful source of calcium for poultry – During the productive life of chickens, the need for calcium, the main component of the egg is huge. Because the amount of calcium that is deposited daily in the eggshell is very high, the hen needs to absorb a lot of calcium in a short time. With the aging of laying hens, efficiency and speed change backwards, which mobilizes calcium reserves. Older chickens therefore have problems with the calcium supply and therefore the quality of the eggshell. Shell flour is a useful source of calcium that can solve this problem. Optimal calcium supply To preserve the quality of the eggshell, a source of calcium is important, which is present at the same time as the eggshell in the blood. The harder and coarser particles of the shell stay longer in the goiter and only later enter the poultry stomach, where stomach acid can only slowly dissolve calcium. Shells dissolve up to 10 times more slowly such as limestones. The result is that calcium is gradually absorbed but completely into the bloodstream. Thanks to the slower absorption, there is a higher and more constant level of calcium, so even during the need for calcium in the formation of the eggshell. The management of shellfish meal for food, especially for elderly chickens, has immediate results. Laying hens: the use of shell flour in laying hens already has a long tradition. However, there are good possibilities for the use of grains for broilers. The shell has a positive effect on the construction of a strong skeleton of hens. It also allows coarse grain in the stomach of the chicken for better grinding of food, and therefore there is less eating disorders. The shell grain of 1-2.5 mm is well suited for small birds. chickens, quails and pheasants. But also…
