Several scientific studies have proven the benefit of the active ingredients of passionflower and in particular flavonoids, maltol and alkaloids present in the aerial parts of the plant. It is the combination of these assets that brings its effectiveness.
One of the most active compounds in valerian, a plant that improves the quality and speed of sleep, is valerenic acid. It increases levels of GABA (γ-aminobutyric acid), the main central nervous system inhibitory neurotransmitter. Its strong smell is due to the presence of sulfur compounds that are responsible for its sedative and relaxing action.
👉 MELISSE ●● A study published in 2006 (see description) demonstrated that the anxiolytic effect of valerenic acid contained in Valerian was accentuated in combination with lemon balm and reached its maximum potential at a dosage of 600mg.
