The essential fatty acids contained in the virgin evening primrose oil (œnothera biennies), extracted from the seeds by first cold pressing, are PRECURSORS of prostaglandins type 1, substances that provide vital functions in the body: regulator of estrogen, progesterone, balancing of physiological processes at the level of the epidermis. Evening primrose oil has the following actions: it improves the comfort of the menstrual cycle, alleviates menopausal disorders (mood, depression), reduces the action of free radicals, balances immune and nerve functions, improves blood circulation and preserves the elasticity and smoothness of the skin. Premenstrual syndrome is directly related to a deficiency of essential fatty acids of the omega 6 type, especially gamma-linoleic acid.
