Valerian, or Jupiter’s beard (don’t ask us why) has an exceptional flowering time, and more so if you prune dry stems. Priest’s garden flower, it stretches and needs no care.
This pretty plant often in a vagrant mood is easily felt, and sometimes settles in very curious places like a crack in a wall: it loves drought and sun.
Plant your valerian in the sun or possibly in partial shade in neutral to limestone soil, even stony. Valerians prefer draining, even poor soil. They are well resistant to drought. You can prune the inflorescences after flowering to promote a rising and prevent it from re-sowing.
