Uso un filtro da 0,1 micron di poro massimo per filtrare l’acqua non potabile in escursione (pozzanghere, pozze, fontanili). Ciò elimina tutto il nocivo salvo i virus. Per i virus è necessario un trattamento o con pastiglie come queste, o con lampada UV. Una pastiglia in una borraccia da 1 litro necessita mezz’ora per l’eliminazione dei virus. Il sapore è naturalmente di acqua pesantemente clorata, come quella di Roma in certi giorni d’Agosto. Naturalmente può essere utile anche per turismo in paesi con rete idrica inaffidabile. Quello che è fondamentale è che il filtro + le pasticche, o il filtro + il trattamento UV, consente di bere acqua in escursione da praticamente qualsiasi fonte, incluse pozzanghere fangose. Le uniche fonti di inquinamento non eliminabili se non con filtri specifici (Sawyer S3) sono l’inquinamento chimico e i metalli pesanti, ma in genere in escursione in Italia non si hanno questi problemi.

Does the job when viral contamination is a worry as many water filters don’t clear viruses.You will have to wait 45 minutes before the water is drinkable and there’s a slight taste, but not terrible.Should always have some in your backpack if you’re going to fill up with water from streams and rivers. You never know if an animal has dropped one upstream or fallen in and drowned. Best be safe
